My First Attempt at

Restoring a Pump

  1938 GILBARCO model 96C

I have collected old sports cars for a number of years. Along with the cars came a collection of gas station signs and other assorted items. I ended up with three gas pump globes as well. so it made some sort of sense to acquire a pump to go under one of them. I was browsing through eBay one evening and found this pump, in need of restoration, in Kansas. Daughter Tori and I both shouted "Road trip!" We picked it up over Easter break 2002. Two months later this is what it looked like. I have it set by the corner of the garage (not in front of the door as shown here) and hooked up so the lights come on at dusk and go off at 11:00 pm.
