I have been proud to have been recognized for some of my accomplishments as an educator.
The POWER of ART award had a profound effect on my feelings toward what the fine arts can accomplish in education. Please click the link above for further information.
I was selected to attend a National Art Education Association Distinguished Fellows seminar at Ohio State University on multi-culturalism in art education. It was there I first met Pat Stuhr and Grahame Chalmers. This eventually led to an invitation to join the first cohort of a mostly on-line masters in art education program that OSU was then contemplating.
The State of Ohio has developed standards for the fine arts. As part of these standards sample lessons were developed as an aid to teachers. I was asked to field test some of these lessons in my classroom and offer input and constructive criticism before they are published. I received a very complementary letter for my efforts.
In 2005-6 I received the St. Joseph Academy Sr. Edith Franz Award given to annually to outstanding faculty members.
That same year I believe one of my students nominated me for the Teacher's Insurance Plan Teacher of the Year Award. I was touched that someone felt strongly enough to take the time to nominate me.
I have been listed in Who's Who Among American Teachers several times.
As an undergrad I was very pleased to be inducted into Kappa Delta Pi the honorary society for teachers.
